Anke Vondung
Born in Speyer (Germany) the mezzo soprano Anke Vondung received her first piano lessons whenshe was eight years old.
Anke Vondung studied with Professor Rudolf Piernay at Musikhoch- schule Mannheim. 1995 she had her debut at Opernschule Mannheim as Nancy in Benjamin Britten‘s “Albert Herring”. In 1996 and 1997 Anke Vondung won awards in such prestigious international competitions as Chamber Music Competition, Mozart-Competition Würzburg, “Schubert and the music of the 2Oth century”, lntern. Competition “Neue Stimmen” Gütersloh. In 1998 she attended an international opera-project of the European Opera Center under the direction of Brigitte Fassbaender in the role of Cecilio (Mozart's “Lucio Silla”) and she became recipent of scholarship of the Richard-Wagner-Association. In 1998 Anke Vondung received prizes at Robert-Saar-Gesangswettbewerb Bad Kissingen, Hans-Gabor-Belvedere-Wettbewerb Vienna, ARD-Musikwettbewerb Munich. 1999 she received the fist prize of the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Wettbewerbs and got a scholarship of the Ravinia-Festival Chicago.
Anke Vondung was a member of the Tiroler Landestheaters Innsbruck in Austria until 2000. From the 2003/04 season until 2005/06 she was a member of Semperoper Dresden.Since then she is a guest at Semperope Dresden.
In the 2000/01 season she appeared at Theatre Chatelet Paris in a “Hänsel und Gretel” production.During the 2001/02 season she appeared first time at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and in 2002 at Salzburger Festspiele in “Die Liebe der Danae” by Richard Strauss. In the 2002/03 season Anke Vondung appeared as Fjodor in a “Boris Godunow” production at Opéra Bastille Paris and as Dorabella in a “Così fan tutte”-production for Mozart-Festwochen Salzburg. She also appeared at Grand Theatre de Geneve, Salzburger Festspiele, Mozartwochen Salzburg. In 2006 she sang Dorabella in a “Così fan tutte” production at the Glyndebourne Festival. In September 2006 she sang Clairon (R.Strauss' “Capriccio”) at Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam. 2007 she appeared for the first time at the Metropolitan Opera New York in “Titus”, “Le Nozze di Figaro” and “Clemenza di Tito”. In June 2008 she sang Cherubino at the Munich State Opera. In July 2008 she appeared as Octavian at the Munich Opera Festival. In October 2008 she appeared as Cherubino at teh Staatsoper Hamburg and in February 2009 as Octavian at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Besides her engagements as an opera singer she received numerous invitations to appear with important orchestras Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, North- and South-America under famous conductors such as James Conlon, Enoch zu Guttenberg Edo de Waart, Hellmuth Rilling, Philippe Herreweghe, Peter Schreier, Gerd Albrecht, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Fabio Luisi, Howard Arman, Kent Nagano,Philippe Jordan, Ivan Fischer, Armin Jordan, Sir Roger Norrington, René Jacobs, Marek Janowski, Lothar Zagrossek, Jun Märkl, Peter Schneider.
