Martina Janková
Czech soprano, Martina Janková, has been a member of the Zurich Opera House since 1998 and is among the leading Mozart performers of the day. As Despina (Così fan tutte), Celia (Lucio Silla), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Susanna und Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and Aminta (Il re pastore) she appeared in Zurich, at the Salzburg Festival, the Wiener Festwochen and with the Cleveland Orchestra. Other roles she sang for the Zurich Company include Angelica (Orlando), Vixen/Young Vixen (The Cunning Little Vixen), Nanetta (Falstaff) and Marzelline (Fidelio).
Other engagements have taken her to the Thèâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Prague National Theatre and the Grand Thèâtre de Genève where she performed works by Beethoven, Mozart, Janáček, Rossini and Monteverdi.
On the concert platform she has worked with many of the world’s leading conductors and orchestras including the Berlin and Munich Philharmonic Orchestras, the Radio Symphony Orchestras in Frankfurt and Berlin, the Israel Philharmonic, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, Concentus Musicus Wien, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra La Scintilla of the Zurich Opera House, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées under conductors including Philippe Herreweghe, Franz Welser-Möst, Neville Marriner, Hugh Wolff, John Eliot Gardiner, Ivor Bolton, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Simon Rattle, Iván Fischer, Riccardo Chailly, Bertrand de Billy and Marek Janowski.
She appeared in solo recitals at the Prague Spring Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, the Festival Musiques en Été in Geneva, the Salzburg Festival and at the Zurich Opera House.
Her schedule for the 2011/2012 season includes Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, Il re pastore, Palestrina and Guillaume Tell in Zurich, concert appearances in the Berlin Philharmonie (Lazarus by Schubert conducted by Ingo Metzmacher) and the Zurich Tonhalle (A German Requiem by Brahms conducted by Daniele Gatti) as well as lied recitals in Zurich, Basel, Dortmund, Cologne and London. In the summer of 2012 she returns to the Salzburg Festival to sing in Il re pastore an the mass in c-minor.
Her CD releases include several solo recitals, the most recent being the album recollection featuring songs by Joseph Haydn. On DVD Martina Janková can be seen as Tilly in Simplicius by Johann Strauss, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in Così fan tutte by Mozart as well as in Handel’s Orlando and La Resurrezione .
