With his almost dancelike lightness of style, Willy Büchler, first guest conductor of Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna, has been able to entrance his audiences for almost 20 years. Buoyancy, dedication, sensibility and humour are characteristic of his musical diversity.

Born in Vienna, where he studied with his professors Josef Sivo and Michael Frischenschlager, he became at the age of 20 years a professor of the violin at the Landeskonservatorium in Vorarlberg. He returned to Vienna when he became subleader of the RSO Wien. There he also taught at the Musik University.

1992 he founded the now wellknown Eos-Quartet, together with 3 members of the Wiener Symphoniker, performing in the subscription concerts in the Wiener Konzerthaus. He was appointed leader of the Wiener Symphoniker in 1995.

Like Johann Strauss, he conducts playing the violin, attaining a performance of pure Viennese style and tradition. Whether in Dortmund´s new concert hall, in Tokyo´s magnific Suntory hall, or at home in Vienna with his New Years Concerts in the Wiener Konzerthaus, Willy Büchler with his charismatic charme reaps standing ovations from his delighted audiences.
