Bibiana Nwobilo

Born in Nigeria and grown up in Austria, Bibiana Nwobilo‘s interest in opera music started while still young. She attended the Music Academy in Klagenfurt and then the Music Academy in Vienna where she successfully finished with the Bachelor of Arts Degree in the year 2006. Her teachers were Mrs. Gabriele Sima and Hilda DeGroote.

Bibiana Nwobilo has been performing on stage since early life. In 1999, she performed in various gospel-concerts all over Austria, and also appeared in Kirk Franklins „Händels New Messias“.

In 2009 she performed the role of Clara in Gershwin’s „Porgy and Bess“(Chamber Orchestra of Europe) and in the oratorium „Dixit Dominus“ of G.F. Händel (Concentus Musicus Vienna), both under the programme of the styriarte, directed by Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

2010 she sang at the styriarte „Schubert and Hüttenbrenner Tracks” with the Vienna Clarinet Connection, and „Nine German Arias” by G.F. Haendel as part of the festival PSALM 2010.

Bibiana Nwobilo was once again in Hallstatt as „Almaviva” in W.A. Mozart „Le nozze di Figaro” and in Schönbrunn Palace Theater in the half-scenic pruduced operetta „Winzerbraut” by O. Nedbal.

Parts of the roles „Pamina” (The Magic Flute) and „Blondchen” (Entführung aus dem Serail) was performed in concert on a South America tour.

Other concerts are in Vienna, Holland and Denmark from the program of South American and spanish classical repertoire to modern Lied with the trio „Wood and Voice”.

In the year 2007 she was the winner of the „Heinrich Strecker Contest“ in Baden near Vienna, and in the following year (2008) she won the prize of the „Armin Weltner Foundation“ in Switzerland.
