Andrés Orozco-Estrada was born in 1977 in Medellin (Columbia). At the age of five he started to play the violin, at the age of 15 he conducted the orchestra of his Music High school. In 1992 he started to study conducting. From 1997 to 2003 he persued his conducting studies in the master class of Uros Lajovic at the Vienna Music Academy.

From 2001 to 2004 Andrés Orozco-Estrada was elected Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Vienna's Technical University. During these years he conducted a wide range of symphonic and opera programmes, including concert and staged performances of Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Abduction from the Seraglio, The Magic Flute and Don Carlo.

In May 2003 Andrés Orozco-Estrada for the first time conducted the "Tonkünstler-Orchester Niederösterreich" in a concert in Vienna. This succesful debut immediately led to an invitation for a two years' tenure as "Associate Conductor" of this orchestra. Part of his work in this position was is to conduct regular subscription concerts at the Vienna Musikverein and at the Festspielhaus St. Pölten (April 2006).

After a Musikverein concert in June 2004 within the Vienna Festival where Andrés Orozco-Estrada stepped in at short notice (Richard Strauss: Four Last Songs with Eva Mei and Anton Bruckner 4th Symphony), the Austrian newspaper Der Standard nicknamed him "The Miracle of Vienna".

In 2005, Andrés Orozco-Estrada made his debut with recreation - Großes Orchester Graz at the styriarte in Graz. After this highly acclaimed concert he was immediately appointed Principal Conductor of this orchestra for a tenure of three years (2006-2008). He conducts regularly concerts in Graz as well as concerts at the styriarte and orchestral tours.

Apart from his work with the recreation and Tonkünstler orchestras Andrés Orozco-Estrada regularly conducts the Bogotá Philharmonic and the Colombian National Orchestra. In the last years he has guested orchestras like the Wiener Symphoniker, Wiener Kammerorchester, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin, Philharmoniker Hamburg, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Nationaltheater-Orchester Mannheim, Staatsorchester Stuttgart, Bamberger Symphoniker, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Orquesta Sinfónica de Córdoba, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia as well as the Slovak and the Slovenian Philharmonic.

In the field of opera he has led productions of Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Zauberflöte, Fidelio, L'Italiana in Algeri, La traviata, Don Carlo, Cavalleria rusticana, I pagliacci and Les Contes d'Hoffmann.

During season 2008/09 Andrés Orozco-Estrada can be heard in Vienna (Tonkünstler), Graz (recreation), Innsbruck (Tiroler Sinfonieorchester), Basel (Sinfonieorchester), Ljubljana (Slovenian Philharmonic), Düsseldorf (Symphoniker), Hanover (Staatsorchester), Leipzig (Gewandhausorchester), Bilbao and Pamplona (Orquesta Euskadi) and Odense (Symfoniorkester). He will conduct a tour of the Basque National Orchestra to Italy (including several concerts in Milan) and visit Stuttgart for performances of Die Entführung aus dem Serail. September 2008 saw a new production of Puccini's La bohème in Bogotá.
