Dances from the “Notenbuch for Maria Anna Mozart”, 1759
Leopold Mozart: Villanesca from the piano trio in F major / Vivace and Polonaise from „Frosch-Parthia”
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Dance movements from the London Sonatas / Divertimento in B flat major, K 254 / Piano trio in G major, K 564 / Five Contradances, K 609 / Flute quartet in C major, K 285b
Ultimately, being a wunderkind just like her brother was of no use to her: Maria Anna Mozart remained “Nannerl”, the friendly older sister of the chaotic genius, until today. At the styriarte, Maria Köstlinger lends her voice to the forgotten sister. She tells about the travels of the wunderkind through Western Europe, about Italy, which only her brother was allowed to see, and about disputes in Salzburg. What always brought the two siblings back together was music and dance. Florian Birsak’s trio and Annie Laflamme play some of the most beautiful dance melodies by the Mozart family – by Leopold, Wolfgang and maybe even by Nannerl.
