Music for a Jewish wedding
He turned 80 in March 2016, but his nimbus is unbroken: wherever Giora Feidman lets his soft clarinet sounds float through the air, his audience is captivated. Born in Argentina, he became the “King of Klezmer” in 1995 through the film music for “Schindler’s List”. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather used to play at Jewish weddings and Bar Mitzvahs in their home of Bessarabia on the Black Sea. Together with the Gitanes Blondes from Munich, Feidmann has been organising Klezmer programmes since 2010. Immediately after our programme, the doors to the ballroom at Helmut List Halle will open – and the concert becomes a celebration with dance.
