Luba Orgonášová

Born in Bratislava, Luba Orgonášová studied piano and singing at the conservatory and the music academy in her hometown. She started her career in Germany, in 1988 she joined the Wiener Volksoper and subsequently debuted at the Wiener Staatsoper. In 1990 she made her Salzburg Festival début as Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio.

After her outstanding début as Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Paris in 1990 Luba Orgonášová was invited to sing at the most prestigious opera houses and festivals in Barcelona, Berlin, Chicago, Hamburg, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Salzburg, Vienna and Zurich. She has sung most of the lyric/coloratura soprano parts in Mozart’s operas, Italian repertoire including Verdi’s La traviata and Puccini’s La bohème, belcanto operas such as Bellini’s La sonnambula and I puritani and German romantic operas including Weber’s Der Freischütz and Schubert’s Alfonso und Estrella. Her extensive concert repertoire encompasses compositions from Bach to Poulenc, while her numerous CD and video recordings include operas as well as sacred and other vocal music.

She has worked and recorded with conductors and orchestras such as Abbado, Boulez, Chailly, Gardiner, Harnoncourt, Jansons, Maazel, Muti, Nagano, Norrington, Rattle, Sawallisch, Welser-Möst, Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Philharmonic, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala Milano, Orchestre National de France, among many others.

The season 2011/12 we will hear Luba Orgonášová in Haydn's Salve Regina and Harmonymass at Musikverein Vienna, in Verdi's Requiem with the MDR Sinfoniyorchestra at the Gewandhaus Leipzig and the Frauenkirche Dresden, in Lobgesang with the Gewandhausorchester under Riccardo Chailly in Leipzig and at the Vatican as well as with Mahler's 4th Symphony on a tour through Europe.
