A Pope who openly sponsors his children, a Pope’s son who murders all members of Romagna’s high nobility just to establish a principality, a Pope’s daughter for whom no man is good enough. Jordi Savall discovered the rich story-telling potential of the Borgia family long before today’s television screenplay writers. After all, the Borgias weren’t just involved in sex and crime, they were also great supporters of the arts and music. Savall traces the Borgia family’s history, from Pope Calixt III to the notorious Pope Alexander VI and later to Saint Francis Borgia, the Father General of the Jesuit Order. Beware, though it may be accompanied by beautiful music, the path is littered with corpses.

The CD production "Dinastia Borgia", recorded by Alia Vox/harmonia mundi, was awarded with Echo Klassik 2011 for the best ensemble of the year (historic instruments).
