People of the 19th century tended to favour a rather romanticised image of love amongst gypsies. Brahms paid homage to them in his enchanting “Gypsy Songs”, while Dvořák’s Czech folk melodies depict modest love in the countryside in his first international success, “Moravian Duets”. Pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard will fulfil a long cherished dream in accompanying the Arnold Schoenberg Choir for their performance of these captivating choral movements. The selected pieces are actually ensemble pieces intended for family entertainment before the television was invented.

This concert will be broadcast on Ö1 on July 11,07:30 pm
