The Graz Cathedral, which was first mentioned in an old document in 1147, was constructed in 1438, and it has been the cathedral, i.e. the bishop's and main church of the Catholics in Styria since 1786. Together with the castle, the mausoleum, the old Jesuit University and the priests' seminary it forms the famous “Crown of Graz”.
