Back when it was still part of the Hungarian monarchy, Romania was notorious for gypsies and for its desire for autonomy, but it was musicians like the brilliant violinist and composer George Enescu who first gave the nation its own voice in the global concert of powers. This evening, Moldavian Patricia Kopatchinskaja, along with her family, become champions of Romanian music.
