Born in 1995 in Riga, Latvia, Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis started to play the violin at the age of 4. In 2000 he entered Riga Musical School for gifted students and 8 years later Riga Musical School.
From 2008 till now, he has studied with Prof. Boris Kushnir at Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität and Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Graz.
From an early age, he has participated in a wide variety of musical events, concerts, festivals, masterclasses, charitable activities and projects.
He won the prizes of different values (starting with Gran Prix) in the great majority of competitions he took part and was the winner of all national violin competitions in Latvia between 2004 and 2014.
In 2007 he received a ¾ violin as a gift from the remarkable Italian violin maker Claudio Rampini. He built it after he had seen him on Youtube. Later, he played on the violin by Georgio Baierhof made in Napoli in 1756, owned by his Professor Boris Kushnir.
2015 Jevgēnijs founded his own ensemble – the Oberton String Octet. In Austria, he performs regularly with renowned soloists like Benjamin Schmid, Markus Schirmer, Danjulo Ishizaka, Thomas Selditz or Clemens Hagen.
