Ursula Kortschak comes from a family of musicians in Graz and lives in Vienna since 1982. First she studied violin with Walter Klasinc in Graz, then she completed her studies in Instrumental Music Education with Erich Schagerl in Vienna. Further education she continued on the viola with Thomas Riebel in Salzburg and baroque violin with Chiara Banchini in Basel.
She is violist in Rudolf Leopold’s Il Concerto Viennese and in the Clemencic Consort. As a viola player she is a standing member at the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensembles under Thomas Hengelbrock.
Great interest of the musician also applies to of contemporary music, she performed with the Klangforum Wien and the Ensemble “die reihe“ on. So some first performed compositions are dedicated to her.
