Ludwig van Beethoven: Sonata in F major for piano and violin, op. 24, “Spring sonata”
Sonata in A major for piano and violoncello, op. 69
Trio in B flat major for violin, violoncello and piano, op. 11, “Gassenhauer”, etc.
Markus Schirmer plays Beethoven with two exceptional talents of the generation after next: twenty-two year young Latvian violinist Yevgeny Chepovetsky is one of them. The master student of Boris Kuschnir at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz has won so many international awards that Beethoven’s “Spring” sonata does not pose a problem for him. Julia Hagen from Salzburg was born in 1995 as well – incredibly young for Beethoven’s grand Cello Sonata in A major, which she worked on together with her teacher Heinrich Schiff. As a trio, Schirmer and his young colleagues revive a popular Viennese tune by Joseph Weigl whom Beethoven paid tribute to in his variations.
