Chants, folk songs and hymns from Iceland, Norway and Sweden
In Nordic sagas, he is the guardian of the law and he uses his sharp sword to defend it: Týr, the god who gave his name to our Tuesday. The Vikings spread Týr’s cult all over Europe during their raids. But they were no uncultured barbarians – they were poets and singers, whose art culminated in the Icelandic Edda. Trio Mediæval and trumpet player Arve Henriksen from Norway have been inspired by the ancient sagas and combine their stories with folk songs and hymns from all over Scandinavia.
