Joseph Haydn: Feldparthie No. 1 in B flat major, Hob II:46
Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf: Symphony No. 4
Christoph Willibald Gluck: Le Cinesi (The Chinese Women)
A celebration in honour of Maria Theresa, in the spirit of the Rococo with everything that this entails: She was proffered the opera “Le Cinesi” when she visited her field marshal at Schloss Hof in 1754. Gluck, his director of music, dressed the one-act opera about three bored Chinese women in exceptionally beautiful music. Farmers climbed on trees and servants dressed in animal costumes for the Empress, which she acknowledged with roaring laughter. Thomas Höft recounts all the details of this celebration in the words of Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf, who bore witness. recreationBAROCK and Erich Polz let the sounds of Rococo come to life again, while the Helmut Liste Halle turns into a Theresian pleasure garden.
