Glück im Unglückshare on facebook A new programme by BartolomeyBittmann
Harnoncourt – a musical homage
Krystallos – on a poem by Michael Köhlmeier
Steja – between Styrian yodeling and Indian Raga etc.
In their new programme for the 2018 styriarte, BartolomeyBittmann create ingenious and soulful contemporary music with roots reaching far back in the past and to the musical tradition of Austria. The duo’s own compositions thrive on sharp emotional contrasts: no light without shadow – no fortune without misfortune. What brought the two musicians together was their respect for the sound of their instruments and their desire to lure all the possible musical images out of them together. As a duo, the cellist Matthias Bartolomey and the violinist and mandolinist Klemens Bittmann take their instruments, which have strong roots in the tradition of classical music, on new paths. With spontaneity and improvisations inspired by jazz aesthetics, they make their way from intimate, groovy elements to powerful, rocky ones.
