Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: Symphony in G major, Wq 183/4
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 14 in E flat major, K 449
Johannes Brahms: Symphony No. 1 in C minor, op. 68
Mozart started his own catalogue of compositions with the piano concerto in E-flat major K 449. He knew why. Markus Schirmer places one of Mozart’s most beautiful slow movements in the best light. Andreas Stoehr reminds us of Hamburg native Brahms’ stay in Vienna. His northern cool first symphony with the alphorn from the south is best explained by adding music from the “Hamburg Bach”.
