Franz Schubert: Overture in E minor, D 648
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano concerto No. 2 in B flat major, op. 19
Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 2 in B flat major, D 125
It’s odd that of all his symphonies, Schubert’s Symphony No. 2 is played so rarely. At Christmas 1814, the seventeen-year-old wrote the last notes of a truly magnificent symphony in B major. His Overture in E minor was later even able to match up to Beethoven’s Seventh. The time is now right for Andreas Stoehr to conduct these childhood dreams of classical music with the recreation orchestra. For Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in B major, he is joined by an enchanting pianist: German-Greek Danae Dörken. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling’s master student is just 25 years old – exactly the same age as Beethoven when he composed his Opus 19.
