Giovanni Battista Pergolesi: Livietta e Tracollo (Neapel, 1734)
Four nights of comic opera in the picturesque surroundings of Palais Attems in Graz. Neapolitans went crazy when the 24-year-old Pergolesi conducted his Intermezzo “Livietta e Tracollo” in 1734. “La Contadina astute” was the more familiar title of that short comic opera, which became known all over Europe in the course of just ten years. In Graz, it is Julla von Landsberg who will perform the canny countrywoman Livietta and her witty dialogues with baritone Dietrich Henschel alias Tracollo. The swinging period instruments of the Neue Hofkapelle will create the perfect soundtrack for Adrian Schvarzstein’s infinite repertoire of witty gags.
Palais Attems has no disability access.
In case of bad weather “Il Ciarlatano” will be held indoors.
