Summertime in Grazshare on facebook
Evergreens by Bach/Gounods „Ave Maria“ to Offenbach’s „Barcarole“, Saint-Saens’ „Schwan“ to Gershwin’s „Summertime“ and many more
Just like Robert Stolz in his legendary programmes “A Night in Vienna”, Eddie Luis orchestrates a night of beautiful melodies in the show band sound of the “Gnadenlosen” ensemble. Everything that has been adapted in classical music and jazz before is being transformed once more – in the sound of the Golden Twenties, when everything that glittered was “hot”. The programme is set between Russia, Paris and America. Owing to Tchaikovsky, the melodies whistled by a Russian painter became the moving “Andante cantabile” for string players and later, in 1940, the song “On the Isle of May”. Of course, Gershwin’s “Summertime” – the adaption of a folk song from Belarus, by the way – has to appear in the medley of Evergreens as well.
