The High Road to Kilkennyshare on facebook
A matinee at Planetensaal followed by a picnic in the palace park
Music by Ruairí Dall Ò Catháin, Turlough O‘Carolan, Henry Purcell, James Oswald etc.
“The High Road to Kilkenny” is François Lazarevitch’s sonorous homage to Ireland: together with his brilliant colleagues, he headed off to the green shores of the emerald isle. Tenor Robert Getchell sings Gaelic songs, while violinist David Greenberg shines in the crossover between baroque and folk. At Schloss Eggenberg, you can hear this “Irish baroque folk” live, played by a troop, which you can only rarely experience in such a rousing and relaxed manner in a classical concert. In the castle park, the audience then finally gets the chance to swing or dance to their heart’s content.
The outdoor picnic will take place only if the weather is fine. Picnic blankets are provided. Please order your picnic-box in advance.
