Traditional music from Asia Minor and the Middle East
Music by Georges I. Gurdjieff for piano and tambourine
Neo-Gothic and modern Greek works by Erik Satie
At the beginning of the 20th century, Paris was the metropolis of the world. It was where anybody in pursuit of culture and pleasure went. It was where you could enjoy life to the full, or sink deeply into metaphysics and the fascination of exoticism. In the pursuit of transcendence – the true form of transformation – Eric Satie composed his scandalous and now world-famous masterpieces. Armenian guru Gurdjieff connected Sufi mysticism with classical art. With the magic of the whirling dervishes, the sensual pulse of the frame drum and the magical sounds of Satie, Vladimir Ivanoff and his musicians take the audience to a world between asceticism and ecstasy.
