Tenor Ferran Mitjans
Ferran Mitjans is one of the leading tenors on the young Catalan music scene. After winning the Salvat Bach Scholarship in 2018, he specialised in the Baroque repertoire and has since collaborated with renowned ensembles, as well as working regularly with Jordi Savall. As a soloist and founder of an ensemble, he is passionately dedicated to promoting Iberian Renaissance and Baroque music.

Baroque repertoire, having won the Salvat-Bach Scholarship in 2018. Since then, he has worked with renowned European ensembles such as the Collegium Vocale Gent under Philippe Herreweghe, La Capella Reial de Catalunya under Jordi Savall and Lluís Vilamajó, the Cor Cererols with Marc Díaz, the Ensemble O Vos Omnes with Xavier Pastrana, and La Grande Chapelle with Albert Recasens.
He works with Jordi Savall both as a chorister and as a soloist. Works they have performed together include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and St John Passion, Haydn’s The Creation, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C minor, Beethoven’s Missa solemnis and Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri. He has also featured on numerous recordings by Savall. Highlights of their collaboration during the 2025/26 season included performances at the Auditori in Barcelona, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Prinzregententheater in Munich. In the summer, he will return to the Salzburg Festival with Savall.
Ferran Mitjans is a founding member of Cor Cererols and the Cristóbal de Morales Ensemble; both vocal ensembles are dedicated to the rediscovery and promotion of the Iberian Renaissance repertoire and the musical tradition of Montserrat.
He began his musical training in 2005 at the Escolania de Montserrat, where he performed as a soloist and took part in a recording of works by P. Miquel López, the Christmas CD „El nostre Nadal“ and Tomás Luis de Victoria’s „Officium hebdomadae sanctae“.
Ferran Mitjans initially studied physiotherapy, then voice at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona, where he was taught by Marta Mathéu and Anna Ollet. He also attended masterclasses with the countertenor Carlos Mena and the baritone Marcel Boone. In 2011, he continued his training with the Cor Jove de l’Orfeó Català, where he sang solo parts in Purcell’s „Dido and Aeneas“ (2013 and 2015), Bach’s „Magnificat“ (2015) and Handel’s „Messiah“ (2016 and 2017).
