Dance musician and ethnomusicologist with experience
Hermann Fritz studied music theory and composition with Erich Urbanner at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, mathematics and history at the University of Vienna and musicology with Franz Födermayr at the University of Vienna, Austria. He has been a lecturer at the Mozarteum Salzburg (Folk Music in Austria) and at the Institute for Musicology of the University of Innsbruck (Music Transcription and Sound Analysis).
Since 1981, he has been a freelance musician (violinist, piano accompanist, arranger and composer) involved in the songwriter scene, in the drone music renaissance of the 1980s and in the Neue Volksmusik scene in Switzerland and Austria, and specializes in Swiss and Austrian folk music of the 19th century.
