Jonas Åkerlund
The sensitive musician has been studying the mystical sound traditions of his homeland in countless Swedish folk ensembles since his training at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. At Styriarte, we can hear Jonas Åkerlund - usually alongside Miriam Andersén - on the violin and several other instruments.

Jonas Åkerlund is known for his personal and traditional playing and his knowledge of music, mainly from West Dalarna, but also from other parts of Sweden and Norway. He has always explored the boundaries between tradition, improvisation and innovation. Over the years he has played in many constellations on the Swedish music scene, including the Esbjörn Hazelius Band, the duo Josefina Paulson & Jonas Åkerlund, Bowing 9, Lure, Rosén/Åkerlund, Tritulen, Månsson/Åberg etc. He has also composed music for several theatres.
Jonas' main instrument is the violin, but he can also be heard playing the guitar, zither, bagpipes, harmonica and many other instruments. Jonas has been a musician for more than 25 years and is a graduate of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
