Expert for the baroque oboe

Career

After graduating in oboe at the age of 17 from the Conservatory of Parma, Paolo Grazzi undertook the study of the baroque oboe, first as an autodidact and then under the guidance of Paul Dombrecht at the Conservatoire Royal in Brussels.

He obtained the 'Premier Prix' with distinction in oboe and baroque oboe in 1981 and soon became a reference point for this instrument, both as a performer and as a teacher, in Italy and abroad.

teacher

In particular, as a teacher, he created the baroque oboe department at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan, from which, over time, numerous specialists have emerged who are now active in orchestras throughout Europe.

performer

As a performer, he collaborates regularly with leading early music groups in Europe, including 'Il Giardino Armonico' conducted by Giovanni Antonini and Le Concert des Nations conducted by Jordi Savall.

In 1989 he founded Ensemble Zefiro together with his brother Alberto and the oboist Alfredo Bernardini.

Paolo Grazzi, besides being an appreciated performer, is dedicated to the study and reconstruction of copies of 18th century oboes. He teaches oboe at the Verona Conservatory and holds specialisation courses in baroque oboe at the Verona Conservatory.
