Simon Windisch
In his home town of Graz, the specialist for young audiences is firmly established at the TaO! Theater am Ortweinplatz and with the theatre collective Follow the Rabbit. Productions by the award-winning director have also been staged at the Dschungel Wien, the Volkstheater Wien and the Staatstheater Augsburg, among others - with actors, amateurs, robots or in virtual reality.

Simon Windisch is an Austrian director and theatre maker working in German-speaking countries. He has worked for Volkstheater Wien, Staatstheater Augsburg, Landestheater Niederösterreich, Dschungel Wien and Schauspielhaus Graz, among others, and has received several awards for his directorial work as well as for his dramatisations and play developments. He is a multiple winner of the STELLA. Performing Arts Prize for Young Audience. Together with the TaO! Theater am Ortweinplatz and the theatre collective Follow the Rabbit, Windisch has been developing plays for young audiences for many years, as well as performances and theatre concepts for adults with the group Das Planetenparty Prinzip. In Vienna he works with his collective bum bum on robot plays and demolition houses. He is developing his first live VR production for the Staatstheater Augsburg in 2022. He works with amateurs and professionals, with people and machines, cross-medially and curiously.
In 2021 Simon Windisch was awarded the Outstanding Artist Prize for the Performing Arts of the Republic of Austria.
