Conductor Tobias Wögerer
The Magic Flute at the Vienna State Opera ignited the musical spark in the then 12-year-old from Linz. 20 years later, Tobias Wögerer conducted Mozart's masterpiece at the Volksoper in his first season as Conductor in Residence. Numerous invitations to renowned orchestras were followed by the multiple Prima la Musica prizewinner's debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2023.

Professional, sensitive and inspiring are just a few of the qualities which describe the versatile young conductor Tobias Wögerer.
The Volksoper Wien appointed Tobias Wögerer as “Conductor in Residence” for the 2022/23 season. During the next year he will conduct performances of “Die Zauberflöte”, “La Traviata”, “Die lustige Witwe” and “La Cage aux folles”. Furthermore he will make his debut with the Tonkünstler Orchester NÖ and will return to the Bruckner Orchester Linz.
After a first successful collaboration with Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla in July 2021, Tobias Wögerer assisted her at the Bavarian State Opera in a production of “The cunning little Vixen” by Leoš Janáček.
A highlight from the previous saison marks his debut with the Wiener Symphoniker as part of the "Wohnzimmer-Konzerte" at the Wiener Konzerthaus
In December 2019 Tobias Wögerer won the prestigious conducting competition of the MDR Symphonie-Orchester in Leipzig, and made his concert debut with the orchestra in 2021.
Tobias Wögerer celebrated his appointment as assistant conductor of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester with two successful concerts in Lisbon in 2019. These were followed in 2020 by a summer tour through Italy, including a performance of Schönberg's monodrama "Erwartung" with soprano Angela Denoke as soloist.
As assistant conductor he has had the privilege of working closely with renowned maestri such as Herbert Blomstedt, Daniele Gatti, Manfred Honeck, Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla and Jonathan Nott.
Numerous invitations have brought the young Austrian to the podiums of many renowned orchestras. He has conducted the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Bruckner Orchester Linz, the Jena Philharmonie, the Brandenburger Symphoniker, the Göttinger Symphony Orchester, and the Philharmonie Salzburg.
At the age of 25 Tobias Wögerer conducted his first opera production at the International Bruckner Festival Linz: Victor Ullmann's "Der Kaiser von Atlantis".
Tobias Wögerer, born in Linz in 1991,has studied at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Nicolás Pasquet and Ekhart Wycik and at the Zurich University of the Arts with Johannes Schlaefli.
Master classes with Paavo Järvi, Peter Gülke, Arthur Fagen, Ole Kristian Ruud and Mark Heron complete his education. The versatile conductor also received important impulses as an assistant of Johannes Prinz at the Vienna Singverein, where he has been an active member since 2015.
