Carlos Escobar Pukara
Born in 1962 in Pomata on Lake Titicaca in Peru, Carlos Escobar Pukara embodies the ancient indigenous traditions of his people, the Aymara. Today, the pan flute player lives in Styria and crafts his music and that of his group, PACHAKUTI, as a journey to the spiritual roots of humanity in harmony with nature.

Born in 1962 in Pomata on the shores of Lake Titicaca, Carlos Escobar Pukara, who belongs to the Aymara people, attended school there in the town of Puno. He studied electrical engineering in Kyiv and subsequently pursued translation studies at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. He lives in Styria and has been the bandleader of the music group Pachakuti since 1991.
