About the artist

...

Amauta García and David Camargo are a duo of Mexican artists who have been working together on different projects since 2011. Their works have investigated the impact of housing market bubbles, urban extractivism and they wonder, how can we relate to the land beyond its exploitation? Bringing in elements of architecture, sculpture, video, and virtual environments, García & Camargo tell stories that are at once personal, social, and political. Their work has been exhibited in Mexico, the Netherlands, Germany, USA, Georgia and Cuba. They were artist-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academy (2021-2022); at the Border Residencies of the Kunstmuseum Bochum, Germany (2022); and they have been selected for the 2023 residency at Hotel Maria Kapel, the Netherlands
