David Camargo
David Camargo works at the intersection of visual art, performance, and space. The Colombian artist creates site-specific works that explore social and cultural realities and are presented internationally. In addition to his exhibition work, he has been shaping the theater scene for years as a video artist and scenographer, creating visual spaces of exceptional atmospheric intensity.

David Camargo (born 1989) studied Fine Arts at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá and completed postgraduate studies in Media Arts at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM).
His artistic practice spans a wide range of disciplines, from video sculptures and video installations to performances in both public and private spaces, often exploring social and cultural themes. His site-specific and installation-based works have been exhibited at venues and festivals including International Fringe Arts in Bath (UK), the Szene Machen Festival in Dortmund, OK Linz, the Fundação Internacional de Arte de Cerveira (Portugal), the Kunstmuseum Celle, the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, the Bayer Erholungshaus Leverkusen, and Kunstwerk Köln. A particular highlight was his solo exhibition Contact Zone, presented at Galerie 21 in Hamburg in 2023.
In theatre, Camargo gained his first experience as a video artist with the video productions/internet operas A Hand of Bridge and Hin und Zurück at Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, and as an assistant trainee with Fanny & Alexander at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus (D’haus). Since 2020, he has worked as a stage design assistant at Theater Oberhausen, where he was responsible for the set design of the production ART and created the stage designs for Multiversum and UTOPIA.
