From Duisburg to the world’s stages

Career

Born in Duisburg and raised in various cities of the Ruhr region, Christian Binde was shaped by the contrast between the industry and culture of his home region. After four years as a permanent orchestra musician, his musical path led him to early music, and geographically to Vienna, where he lived for ten years.

On stage

As an artist, Christian Binde’s career has been defined by the contrast between new and early music, between freelance work with various orchestras, his own ensembles, and his teaching activities. He has performed with ensembles such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Concerto Köln, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Le Cercle de l’Harmonie Paris, Klangforum Wien, and MusikAeterna Perm (Russia) across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He has also taught at the universities in Linz and Trossingen.

Since 2007, Christian Binde has been living again in Cologne. Driven by the desire to give expression to his own musical ideas, he founded the Compagnia di Punto in 2010.
