Specialist for baroque oboe
Georg Fritz received his musical training on oboe and also recorder in Salzburg, Linz, Amsterdam and Bremen. As a performer on baroque, classical and romantic instruments, he plays concerts throughout Europe, Israel, Turkey, South Africa, America and China, with ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Gaechinger Cantorey, OH!, Collegium 1704, Camerata Bern, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie.
In chamber music, he devotes himself to the genre of the baroque oboe band as well as that of the classical wind ensemble with the formation "Amsterdam Historical Winds", with which programmes are also realised in collaboration with singers. In addition, he is particularly committed to his own ensemble Odyssee, of which he is a founding member. With this ensemble he has undertaken numerous concert tours in Europe in recent years and recorded numerous CDs for the Pan Classics and Glossa record labels, including Robert Woodcock's oboe concertos.
In addition to his activities as an oboist, he also devotes himself to researching and building copies of historical oboes and recorders in his own workshop. He has also been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz since 2019 and at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen since 2023.
