Sound magician at the conductor's podium
Ingmar Beck is prize-winner of the Aspen Conducting Prize and of the “Robert J. Harth Conductor Prize” at the Aspen Music Festival (USA), and Audience Award Winner of the Operetta Competition 2016 of Opera Leipzig. He is Kapellmeister at Landestheater Linz, founder and conductor of the Vienna chamber orchestra “Concerto Sacro” and of the Munich Baroque Orchestra “Asam Classical Soloists”.
Career
Ingmar Beck started his musical career as a member of the Augsburg Boys Choir. After his cello diploma in Weimar, Budapest and Graz, he graduated orchestra conducting at the Music University Vienna with Prof. Mark Stringer “cum laude”. He is a prize-winner of international chamber music competitions as cellist and as piano accompanist, was scholar of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for three years, scholar of the “Conductors' Forum” of the German Music Council, of the Richard Wagner Foundation, and of the “Academy Music Theatre” of Deutsche Bank Foundation.
He was the Assistent Conductor of the Aspen Music Festival 2017, and in June 2016 he had his debut conducting the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. In 2009 he had his debut at the Salzburg Music Festival. From 2012-2017 he was Principal Conductor of the City-Choir Klosterneuburg/Wien. Beck acted as Assistant Conductor of Daniel Harding, Johannes Debus, Markus Stenz, Daniele Rustioni, Bernard Labadie, and Robert Spano.
On Stage
He works regularly at the Hamburg State Opera, with the Orchestre de Paris, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, at the Opéra de Lyon, the Canadian Opera Company Toronto (COC) and the Bregenz Festival, and regularly conducts orchestras such as the Symphoniker Hamburg, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Classical Philharmonic Bonn. A special commitment connects him with the realization of current opera material; in recent years he has conducted seven opera world premieres at the Hamburg State Opera, at the Landestheater Linz and with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra.
In the 2023/24 season, Ingmar Beck will again conduct an opera world premiere at Landestheater Linz (Reinhard Febel: "Benjamin Button") and a revival of a world premiere at Stadttheater Fürth with Nürnberger Symphoniker. Also, he will conduct performances of Weber's "Freischütz" and Johann Strauss' operetta "Fledermaus" at Landestheater Linz. Further he will begin a close collaboration with the chamber orchestra Klassische Philharmonie Bonn and conduct two concert tours in the major concert halls of Germany. Other symphony concert projects are scheduled with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Tyrolean Youth Symphony Orchestra.
