Dancer Klara Beyeler

About the artist

dancing woman empowerment

Originally from France, Klara Beyeler studied ballet, modern, urban and social dances. After also graduating with a Philosophy degree, she continued her dance education in New York City and worked with several companies such as Pilobolus Dance Theater.

Back in France after touring worldwide for 10 years, she chooses to perform for small audiences in rural churches. In 2020, alongside photographer Elsa Emilie Martin, they collected 300 audio testimonies about sacredness. From this material they created Sacré Mythes Réalité, an art installation mixing podcast, photography and dance. Singing in tiny churches, climbing bell tours, dead trees, or dancing woman empowerment …

Klara expresses her thought process in her different creations. In the last one, Les chants de l’âme (soul songs), she illustrates Tango Nuevo poetry around Astor Piazzolla repertory, with pianist Anne Mascetti and singer Emanuela Perrupato. Moreover, Klara teaches Partnering masterclass.

Her experience in social dance, weight sharing and dance lift, has shaped the way she approaches movement in interaction with a partner. In school as well as in prison, she also uses this discipline as somatic tool for self reflection.
