versatile violinist and conductor

Considered by the international press for her virtuosity (“Fiery Virtuoso” by The Strad, “True Devil Violinist” by Bayerische Rundfunk, “Superbement joué” by Diapason), combined with a rare musicality (“honest and heartfelt music-making” by Gramophone, “the violinist of the soul” by Sankei Shinbun) and her energy on stage (“the small wonder, Lina Tur Bonet shines” by San Diego Union Tribune), Lina Tur Bonet has developed a versatile and personal career as a violinist and conductor.

Her uncommonly large repertoire covers up to 400 years of music, always using the proper instruments of every period.

From a very young age she worked with many of the most renowned ensembles of baroque, romantic and contemporary music (Les Musiciens du Louvre, Les Arts Florissants, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra Mozart Bologna, under the baton of Abbado, Harding, Gardiner, Clemencic, Minkowski, Christie, Currentzis and Gatti), performing at the Sydney Opera, Lincoln Center, Bunkamura Hall, London Proms or Berliner Philharmonie. She was awarded in several international competitions such as the Bonporti Prize.

Nowadays, she goes all over the world performing as soloist in prestigious halls such as The Wigmore Hall in London, Styriarte Graz Festival, “Music Before 1800” Festival in New York, San Diego Early Music Festival, ORF Vienna Radio Hall, Varna Festival, in Israel or at the Yale University, as well as a chamber musician at the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna and at the Philharmonic of St. Petersbourg.

Tur Bonet has been required as concertmaster with consortia like Concert des Nations, Il Complesso Barocco, la Haydn Philarmonie, Liceo de Barcelona, Orquesta Nacional de España, Hofkapelle Munich, Bach Consort Wien, Clemencic Consort, Concerto Köln, Palau de les Arts and Orqueste d’Auvergne,

She often conducts the Orchestra of the Montreal Festival, the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, the Camerata Villa Musica Maintz, the Oviedo Philharmonia, the Seville Baroque Orchestra, the Orchestra of the City of Granada, and the Vigo 430 Orchestra, among others.

Her recordings as conductor and soloist (music by Vivaldi, Biber, Corelli, Jacquet de la Guerre, Bartok, Bach, Handel, Beethoven and Seicento music) have had a great international acclaim, being chosen best version by the BBC, referential by Gramophone, best version by Radio France Musique and Scherzo, recommended by the German radio stations Bayerische Ründfunk, Kulturradio Berlin and Südwestfunk. She has received several awards from music magazines, including the prestigious Diapason D’Or. Her CD with the last Beethoven Sonatas was awarded 5* by Radio Berlin, “Exceptional” by Scherzo and “Recommended” by Ritmo.

She records and performs unpublished music by Vivaldi, Pisendel, Matteis, Leonardo Leo, Boxberg, Boccherini, Reynaldi, Montali and Brunetti, in addition to contemporary pieces especially written for her.

Chosen as a special artist at the Montreal Festival in 2017 to perform J. S. Bach’s integral solo violin, she has performed all of Biber’s Rosary Sonatas in Spain, Vienna and Tokyo, as well as concertos for violin and orchestra from Vivaldi to Bartok.

Both Lina Tur Bonet as well as her ensemble MUSIca ALcheMIca have been selected artist-in-residence by Spanish Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical for the 2021-2022 season.

Additionally, since the 2021-2022 academic year, she is associate professor within the historical performance programme at Madrid’s Reina Sofía School of Music.
