multi-award-winning harpist

Magdalena Fürntratt (*1999) is a Styrian harpist living in Vienna. She began playing the harp at the age of 7, was accepted into the preparatory course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in 2016 and completed her Master of Arts in instrumental harp studies with Margit-Anna Süß in June 2023 (including an Erasmus year at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media with Ruth-Alice Marino).

She performs throughout Austria and internationally as a soloist and member of various ensembles and orchestras (Wiener Symphoniker, Wiener Akademie, Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Vienna Synchron Stage, duo with the Slovenian flutist Jan Kraner since 2017, etc.) and has attended masterclasses with Anneleen Lenaerts, Marie-Pierre Langlamet and Volker Kempf, among others.

In addition to playing the harp, Magdalena is primarily dedicated to contemporary music and composition, winning numerous prizes at "Jugend komponiert" and "Prima La Musica" - always with her own compositions. Her biggest award to date is the "Ernst and Rosa von Dombrowski Foundation Fund Prize 2020 for Music/Composition" for her entire musical oeuvre.

Since September 2023, Magdalena has also been passing on her enthusiasm for music in harp lessons at the Edlitz Music School (Lower Austria).
