Bass Manuel Winckhler

The sought-after Munich concert singer studied singing at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich. He was a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association Munich and received the Deutschlandstipendium. His repertoire ranges from the oratorios of J. S. Bach to Mozart's Requiem and romantic works such as the Brahms Requiem.

Career

Manuel Winckhler studied singing at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Andreas Macco and Fenna Kügel-Seifried and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Lars Woldt. He received important artistic impulses through song lessons with Christian Gerhaher and Fritz Schwinghammer, as well as through master classes with Christiane Iven, James Cheung and Ian Bostridge. He received the Deutschland- stipendium and a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Association Munich.

On Stage

Recently he was seen as Osmin (W. A. Mozart: Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at the Kammeroper München. In spring 2023 he sang the role of Lykomedes (W.-A. Schultz: Achill unter den Mädchen) at the Munich Prinzregententheater in a co-production of the Theaterakademie August Everding and the Munich Radio Orchestra. Winckhler made his debut in the 2021/22 season as the Third Policeman (E. Krenek: Jonny spielt auf) at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. Throughout his training he has acquired an extensive stage repertoire with roles such as Sarastro (W. A. Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Simone (G. Puccini: Gianni Schicchi) or Don Pasquale (G. Donizetti: Don Pasquale), to name just a few.

Manuel Winckhler is a well appreciated concert singer. His previous activities include song recitals with James Cheung and Fritz Schwinghammer as well as concerts under conductors such as Johanna Soller or Roderich Kreile, with the Munich Philharmonic, the Baroque Orchestra La Banda and numerous others. His repertoire ranges from the oratorios of J.S. Bach to Mozart's Requiem and Haydn's Creation, as well as to romantic works such as Johannes Brahms' German Requiem or Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's oratorio Paulus.
