Marie Rosenmir is an award-winning Swedish conductor, currently the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship Associate Fellow, the programme established by Marin Alsop.
Marie Rosenmir’s route to conducting via an impressive career as a professional organist, pianist and singer has made her an operatic and orchestral leader who is in demand with major orchestras in Sweden and abroad.
Praised for her musical charisma, sensitivity and versatility, Marie was chosen to conduct The Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in 2016, which was broadcast live all over the world. She regularly conducts all major Swedish orchestras, including Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, NorrköpingSymphony Orchestra, Gävle Symphony Orchestra and Malmö Opera Orchestra.
She also appeared as guest conductor with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (London), Paris Mozart Orchestra, the Odense Symphony Orchestra, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra (Olomouc),the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra (Zlin), and Collegium Musicum Bergen.
Her repertoire ranges from the music of the eighteenth century to the music of the future, and she has a particular affinity with French nineteenth-century music, vocal music, and Swedish composers of all periods. She is a strong supporter of living composers and is dedicated to promoting their work.
Marie Rosenmir is a recipient of several awards, which include both the Swedish Conductor’s Award and the Marianne and Sigvard Bernadotte Arts Fund Award (2006), the prestigious Crusell Scholarship for young conductors (2011). Both as a singer and a conductor she was taught by some of the greatest names in the field: Elisabeth Söderström, Thomas Quasthoff, Graham Johnson, Johannes Schlaefli and Alan Gilbert. She holds a diploma degree in conducting from The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where she studied with the legendary Jorma Panula. In 2021 she was chosen by Jukka-Pekka Saraste for the LEAD Foundation Master Class in Finland, where she was mentored by Hannu Lintu, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Saraste himself.
