Michael Gurfinkel

Born in Russia in 1960, Michael Gurfinkel was engaged as a soloist on clarinet and bass clarinet in the USSR Symphony Orchestra before moving to Israel in 1990. Today he is an active chamber musician and produces music festivals as director of an artist agency.

Michael Gurfinkel was born in 1960 in Russia. He has learned to play clarinet from his father, a wonderful musician and teacher. From 1979 to 1984 he studied in Gnesins Musical Institute in Moscow with Professor Fedotov. Already in 1983, Michael Gurfinkel had won the second price in an international contest.

He has played with many famous musicians as the Borodin Quartet, The Moscow Virtuosi under Vladimir Spivakov and many others.

From 1986 to 1990 Michael Gurfinkel was the Principal clarinet & bass clarinet of the USSR Symphony Orchestra under the leadership of Gennady Rozdestvensky. In 1990 Michael moved to Israel. As of 1991 he is a Principal clarinetist of the New Israel Opera. In 1994 he has played with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Zubin Mehta.

Today Michael Gurfinkel is a very popular clarinettist in Israel. He is actively performing chamber music and teaches in Israel and abroad.

Michael Gurfinkel is the director of Arts Production Management and offers the most talented artists: soloists and ensembles, as well as orchestras and conductors. His organisation also organizes and produces music festivals and special events.
