Historical performance practice from the house of styriarte
Recreation – GROSSES ORCHESTER GRAZ has worked with many important conductors who are specialised in Early Music such as Jordi Savall, Roy Goodman and Paul Goodwin. Under the baton of its Principal Conductor Michael Hofstetter (2012-2017), a renowned Early Music specialist, the orchestra went a step further: An ensemble out of the orchestra and with the name recreationBAROCK concentrates on historical performance practice – with its usual energy, with gut strings and historical tuning. The ensemble had its first concert at the styriarte Festival 2012.
In spring 2013 recreationBAROCK went on a little tour through France and celebrated a huge success at the Chapelle Royale in Versailles and at the Chapelle de la Trinité in Lyon. 2013 the ensemble contributed three programmes to the styriarte Festival, and in autumn 2013 it started its first concert series in Graz. In summer 2014 recreationBAROCK played again under the baton of Michael Hofstetter at the styriarte Festival. In July 2015 recreationBAROCK performed two different programmes at the Schubertiade in Hohenems, and played one of these, “Ridente la calma”, also at the styriarte Festival. With this programme, recreationBAROCK played in Ansbach/Germany in 2016, and added a puppet theatre production of Gluck’s “Orfeo and Euridice” (Parma version) both to the styriarte Festival programme and the Internationale Gluck Festspiele Nürnberg.
