The Early Folk Band brings historical folk-music sources of the past back to life. All members of the ensemble are outstanding specialists in early music. Hailing from England, Sweden, and Germany, they bring with them the traditional music of their home countries, as well as extensive experience in researching and performing music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque periods.
“Folk music” influences “art music” and vice versa. The musicians have received numerous prestigious awards, including Anders Zorn’s Silver Medal (riksspelman), the German World Music Prize Globale Ruth, a Grammy Award, Festival van Vlaanderen Bruges, the BRTN Radio Prize (Belgium), Festival Rencontres Internationales de Saint-Chartier (France), and distinctions from the German Pop Foundation as “Best Wind Players” and “Best Folk Rock Band.”
