share on facebookOne made a career for himself in London, the other in Leipzig. They both revealed their magnificence in their Orchestral Suites. Alfredo Bernardini on the trail of Handel and Bach, those two greats of the German baroque.
Johann Sebastian Bach: Sinfonia, BWV 174
Georg Friedrich Händel: Concerto grosso in G major, op. 6/1,
Johann Sebastian Bach: Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068
Georg Friedrich Händel: Concerto grosso in B flat major, op. 3/2
Suite No. 2 in D major from “Water Music”
The whole orchestra starts to dance when Alfredo Bernardini on the baroque oboe leads them for Bach’s Orchestral Suite No.3. His Water Music bubbles cheerfully, his Handel Concertos really are “grossi”. The strings are joined by oboe and bassoon, in the Orchestral Suites by timpani and trumpets. Flanked by these huge works, Bach’s famous, tender “Air”.
