Viennese Carnival in of October

There can be no better mood in which to start the season: Viennese Carnival in the middle of October. Mozart’s sparkling overture to Così fan tutte is a carnival piece, as is Schubert’s Symphony No. 6, which sounds so very much like Rossini. Haydn too was in a mischevious mood when he composed his Concerto in D Major for a London cello virtuoso. Here, young Graz cellist Hyazintha Andrej navigates the fingerboard with instinctive certainty, while Tobias Wögerer from Linz conducts.

Hyazintha Andrej

Violoncello

The young musician from Graz combines creative finesse and technical reliability with radiance. After completing her classical studies in Graz, the cellist began exploring new music in Zurich, winning numerous international prizes along the way. In 2020, she played her way into Gautier Capuçon's Classe d'exellence at the Paris Conservatoire and subsequently into the Mozarteum Orchestra and the Camerata Salzburg.

Recreation - Das Orchester

Orchestra

Recreation is special in many ways: consisting of musicians whose nationalities range from Japan to Venezuela, most of the members received part of their training in Graz. After its formation in 2002, the collective played unique halls such as the Alte Oper Frankfurt and worked with outstanding conductors.

Tobias Wögerer

Conductor

The Magic Flute at the Vienna State Opera ignited the musical spark in the then 12-year-old from Linz. 20 years later, Tobias Wögerer conducted Mozart's masterpiece at the Volksoper in his first season as Conductor in Residence. Numerous invitations to renowned orchestras were followed by the multiple Prima la Musica prizewinner's debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2023.
