Content

Coloratura yodels and dudlers from three centuries

Agnes Palmisano carries on the tradition of the Viennese “Dudlerinnen” (female Viennese yodel singers). She knows the repetoire of the Viennese wine taverns better than anybody and carries this style of singing, rich in tradition and since 2010 part of the UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage, into the 21st century. Agnes Palmisano honed her skills under the tutelage of the last “Dudel diva”, Trude Mally, and her latest programme is a tribute to the great coloratura yodellers of the 19th century, above all to the music written for Marie Geistinger, queen of operetta, mentor of Johann Strauss and a native of Graz.

Programme

Music by Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Ludwig van Beethoven, Adolf Müller, Carl Millöcker, Johann Strauss, Ludwig Gruber, Daniel Fuchsberger, Helmut Stippich etc.

Agnes Palmisano & das Schrammelorchester

Orchestra

When Daniel Fuchsberger on the contraguitar, Andreas Teufel on the Schrammel harmonica, Aliosha Biz on the violin and all the other Schrammel musicians nestle up to the vocals of Dudel expert Agnes Palmisano, the charismatic ensemble sings about real life with all its ups and downs. The skilful treasurers unearth many a gem from the Viennese folk music tradition.

Agnes Palmisano

Dudlerin

Legends such as Trude Mally and Gerhard Bronner lined her path to becoming the sovereign patron of Viennese colouratura yodelling. Whether in concert halls, music theatre productions or autumn wine taverns - when Agnes Palmisano sings of grant and glory, beaming across three octaves, you melt in the moment for her glorious vision of familiar, touching song traditions. ‘In Finstan’ - songs by Renaissance composer John Dowland translated into Viennese by her - was one of the best albums of the year in 2021 according to Ö1 and is listed for the German Record Critics' Award.
