About the artist

Counter with a sense of theatrical expression

Alejandro López Ramiro was born in Albacete (Spain) in 1994. He began his musical studies at the Real Conservatorio de Música y Danza, where he chose the piano as his main instrument and also dedicated himself to the study of opera singing as a tenor. During his studies, he developed a passion for countertenor singing. From 2016 to 2019, he studied with Prof. Flavio Ferri-Benedetti in his studio in Valencia and Castellón.

In October 2019, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in 'Renaissance and Baroque Singing' at the 'Bruno Maderna' Conservatory of Music in Cesena (Italy), under the guidance of Prof. Roberta Invernizzi. From April 2021, he continued their studies with Prof. Monica Piccinini, under whose guidance he graduated with honours.

He then began a Master's degree in the same field and with the same singing teacher, but this time at the Conservatorio Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco in Verona (Italy). Thanks to his studies he had the opportunity to perform in several productions with great musical directors such as Michele Pasotti and Alessandro Quarta. At the same time, he gave some concerts as a soloist with the group Kairos Vox (Handel's Dixit Dominus and Vivaldi's Gloria) and another with a young orchestra, with which he sang Vivaldi's Stabat Mater for alto.

In the second year of his Master's degree, he took part in the Erasmus+ programme for a whole year at the MUK (Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien) with his former teacher, Roberta Invernizzi. At the end of this experience, he returned to Verona to complete his final exam, which he passed with honours.

He currently lives in Vienna, where he participates in the activities of the Arnold Schoenberg Chor and the recently established Rosauro Ensemble. The latter focuses on Italian and Spanish repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, combining a strong sense of theatrical expression with historically informed performance. He also takes private lessons with the soprano Ana Maria Labin.
