About the artists

Cuncordu e Tenore de Orosai

faithful custodians of the musical heritage

The Cuncordu e Tenore de Orosei are among the best performers in the vast panorama of Sardinian vocal music. In addition to their exceptional bravura, this is also due to the peculiarity of their repertoire, which embraces both forms of Orosei's vocal tradition: that of sacred singing, typical of religious confraternities, and the profane form of tenor singing. This combination makes the Cuncordu and Tenore de Orosei, the faithful custodians of the musical heritage received from the elderly singers.

The group performs in the two particular modes a Tenore and a Cuncordu, the Gotzos (songs of the Passion of Christ), traditional dances, love serenades and the entire sacred and profane singing repertoire of their village (Orosei is the only village in Sardinia where the two modes of singing have not been interrupted in time).

With the same passion, they are open to investigation and encounters with other musical expressions: at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, with the Bulgarian Voices "Angelitè" and the RIAS Kammerchor , with friends from the small Republic of Tuva, the Hu Hun Hurtu, or other experimentations with various musicians such as Enzo Favata, Luigi Lai, Totore Chessa , the Tenores de Bitti, Nguyen Le, Mola Sylla, Luciano Biondin, Paolo Fresu, Ballade Ballade Bois, Ernst Reijseger (with whom they participated in the recording of the soundtrack of two Werner Herzog films: 'The Wild Blue Yonder' and 'White Diamond') and, most recently, the 'Voci Nomadi' project with the Mongolian singers Ganzoring and Tsogtgerel.

Numerous and relevant performances in well-known festivals in Sardinia, Italy, around Europe, and Africa.
