Frederic Jost, born in Munich, is a young german Bass who was a member of the Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin. During his time there, he sang in productions such as W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and R. Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos.
In the season 2024/25 he made his Debut as Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opera Oviedo. Following this, he performed the role of Rotny in Eugen Onegin at the Teatro Real in Madrid, he then gave his debut at the Maggio Musicale in Florence as 1. Soldat in Salome, before returning to the Bregenz Festival to perform the role of Ein Eremit in Der Freischütz.
Frederic made his debut at the Frankfurt Opera in 2018, performing the role of Ordulfo in Enrico. Since then, he has taken on a variety of roles there, including Gretch in Fedora, Zaretski in Onegin, Mamirov and Kudma in Tchaikovsky's Die Zauberin, 1. Gerharnischter in Die Zauberflöte, 1. Handwerksbursche in A. Berg's Wozzeck, the Wirt in E. Humperdinck's Die Königskinder, the L'Oste and Capitano in Puccini's Manon Lescaut as well as the 1. Soldat in Salome.
Highlights from previous seasons include the role of Comte de Grieux in Massenet's Manon at the Opera de Oviedo, Horatio in Thomas' Hamlet at the Komische Oper Berlin and Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.
Since 2014, Frederic Jost has been a regular guest at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. In 2019, he participated in the filmed production of Alceste by C.W. Gluck. At the same theater, he has also performed in productions such as G. Menotti's The Consul, the world premieres of Mauerschau by H. Berheide and Jephta's Daughter by Saar Magal, as well as the role of the Second Official in Die Soldaten by B.A. Zimmermann, conducted by Kirill Petrenko.
